The Anonymous Masterpiece: A Forensic Search for an Unknown Artist.
I found a painting. It’s haunting, and completely anonymous. No clear signature. No documented history. Just a canvas that feels like it has a story it’s desperate to tell.
I’ve decided to stop wondering and start searching.
The Project
I am launching a full-scale scientific and historical investigation to identify the hand behind this work. This isn't just a research project; it’s a cinematic journey into the world of art forensics.
I will be documenting every step of this process—from the initial high-resolution scans to the moment we (hopefully) uncover a name.
The Journey (The Video Diaries)
Backers will get a front-row seat to the investigation. Through a series of raw, behind-the-scenes video diaries, you’ll follow me as I:
- Consult the Experts: Meet with art historians and professional authenticators.
- The Science: Use UV reflectography and macro-photography to look beneath the layers of paint for hidden signatures or "pentimenti" (under-drawings).
- The Paper Trail: Scour digital archives, auction records, and local histories to find where this piece began.
- The Dead Ends: Experience the real-time frustration and breakthroughs of a cold-case investigation.
The Climax: The Short Film
Once the investigation is complete, the journey will be edited into a polished short documentary. This film will weave together the history we’ve uncovered with the emotional experience of the hunt, culminating in the final reveal of what we found (or didn't find).
Why I Need Your Help
Professional art analysis is expensive. Your support will fund:
- Specialist Equipment: x ray radiography, chemical analysis and carbon dating.
- Consultation Fees: Hiring independent appraisers and historians.
- Production Costs: Editing, sound design, and scoring for the final documentary film.
The Goal
