In the world of fine art photography, there is a rare kind of collaborator who understands that they are not just a subject, but a living medium. This project is a dedicated exploration of that collaboration—a deep dive into the geometry, physics, and sheer presence of a model that possesses the unique ability to transform into a "Living Sculpture".
These images move beyond traditional portraiture. Instead, they focus on the interplay of chiaroscuro lighting and the human form to create something that feels more like classical sculpture than a digital capture.
The model featured in this series brings a profound level of physical discipline and artistic intuition to the studio. Whether caught in a moment of dynamic motion with flowing fabric or held in a static, high-contrast pose, her ability to hold tension and grace allows for the capture of light in its most sculptural state.
This Project focuses on:
The Architecture of the Body: Exploring how light breaks across muscle and bone to create complex, geometric patterns.
The Fluidity of Motion: Capturing the "decisive moment" where fabric and form merge into a single, ethereal shape.
The Power of Shadow: Using deep, low-key shadows to isolate specific details, turning a shoulder or a curve into an abstract work of art.
Photography of this technical nature demands a physical life beyond the screen. My goal with this Kickstarter is to bring these studies to life in a way that honours the level of detail we achieved in the studio.
By backing this project, you are helping fund a high-end, curated collection. This isn't just a book, a print or an ordinary magazine; it is a testament to the technical execution and the silent dialogue between light and the human figure.
The Fine Art Digital and Print Magazine: A beautifully curated publication featuring these studies, ensuring the deep blacks and subtle gradients are preserved.
The Print Folio of 5 glossy 8 by 10 inch Prints: A beautiful collection of prints for those who appreciate the sculptural form of the series.
Limited Edition Archival 11 x 14 inch Glossy Prints: For the serious collector, select images will be available on archival paper. These are designed to be near heirloom pieces, showcasing the full tonal range of the chiaroscuro technique.
Limited Edition Archival Museum Grade 12 x 18 inch print: For the serious High-End Fine Art collector to add to their collection. This print will be printe don Museum Grade Cotton Rag paper and it the highest possible quality available.
Fine art photography is a collaborative effort between the eye behind the lens and the form in front of it. Your support allows for the continued exploration of high-contrast, figurative art and ensures that these works are produced at the highest possible professional standard.
Let’s bring this to light together.
Roger is an Australian fine art photographer based in the Riverina district of Southern NSW, Australia, specialising in the sculptural interplay of light and shadow.
Moving away from narrative storytelling, Roger’s work is a study in geometry and the physics of light. Through a mastery of black-and-white chiaroscuro techniques, he treats the human form as a "Living Sculpture" attempting to transform the decisive moment into something that feels carved from stone.
His practice is defined by technical precision and a commitment to the tangible image. An award-winning artist with work exhibited in Sydney and collected internationally, Roger produces every piece to an uncompromising archival standard. For him, a photograph is only complete when it is realised on museum-grade cotton rag, preserving the deep, intentional shadows that define his signature style.
"I don't look for the story; I look for the shape. My goal is to isolate the elegance of form until the subject feels as enduring as a statue."
