Crooked Creatures is a set of 6 handmade collectible crocheted keyrings, neatly packaged in a custom designed box. The name is inspired by the name of my small business, Crooked Hook Crochet.

There are six different Crooked Creatures designs in total: Bee, Mole, Orange, Frog, Strawberry, and Pug.

Measurements (in cm, height x width x depth, without keyring):
Mole: 5h 4.5w 5d (including nose);
Orange: 4h 4w 4d;
Frog: 5h 3w 2.5d (arms and legs each 5.5);
Bee: 4.5h 4.5w 5.5d;
Pug: 5h 5w 4.5d;
Strawberry: 4.5h 4w 4d.

Keyring: 4h 2w 0.5d.

Hi! I'm Liberty, and I officially founded Crooked Hook Crochet in 2023. I am currently a university student studying a Master's in Business, and I worked in the video games industry as a QA Tester for a year and a half. After crocheting as a hobby for a few years, I decided to start my small business to share my products with others around the world.

The idea for Crooked Creatures came to me fairly recently as I wanted to find a way to incorporate my graphic design skills with the physical act of crocheting. I also had inspiration from seeing other items such as blind boxes, and wanted to make something of my own!

The Initial Design
When testing out my idea, I was originally going to stick with my branding colours. This is what the initial design looked like:

Brainstorming
Then I decided to come up with 4 additional designs. This was for the reason of, what if I tested my creativity and designed something I liked more than the original? These are the total 5 designs that I made.

The Final Design
After putting the designs to public votes, the yellow box was voted as the one that people preferred the most. And, not to be biased or anything, but I like it the most, too! This is the final design that will be printed on all of the boxes. The box measures 6w x 8h x 6d (in cm).

There are 6 sticker designs in total that I will make. When you back to receive a Crooked Creature, you will also receive a matching sticker (unless of course you would like a different one!).

The aim is to produce 200 Crooked Creatures. The cost breakdown is as follows:
As you can see, the majority of the cost is due to the custom boxes. This is due to companies having an MOQ of 200. I have decided to get them printed from a UK supplier due to the high quality and faster shipping. This is to provide you, the backers, with a more premium product.

Materials and packaging costs make up roughly a third of the overall cost. This includes yarn, safety eyes, keyrings, stuffing, cardboard packing boxes and bubble wrap. A small buffer has also been added, to account for any unexpected costs that may occur during the process.

These shipping estimates are based on Royal Mail's Tracked 48 Service (UK only) and International Tracked (rest of the world). For US shipping, an additional £0.50 has been added to cover tariff costs.

Safety
Under UK law, any product sold with "play value" must only be done so after three different tests have been performed on them: Chemical, Flammability, and Strength tests. All six of my Crooked Creatures keyrings will be fully tested using these methods:

The Chemical Test
This tests the materials (i.e. the yarn, stuffing, keyring, and safety eyes) to ensure that they are free from harmful chemicals. This is to ensure they are safe for children, for example if a child were to put the toy in their mouth, they would not be harmed.

The Flammability Test
This tests the flammability of the product - does it catch on fire? And if it does catch fire, how far does the flame spread during the time it is lit, and does it self extinguish? This is to ensure that if the product were to catch fire, the person holding it has enough time to drop it/extinguish the flame before they are harmed.

The Strength Test
This test uses different methods to test the durability of the product, including twisting, pulling, and dropping weights on the product. This is to ensure that they can withstand being played with.

Stretch Goals
These are what I would like to do if the project is funded beyond the target.

£750 6x4 Art Prints:
Each backer who has purchased at least 1 sticker will also receive a 6x4 art print.

£1000 Holographic Stickers:
The stickers will be printed using a holographic overlay, rather than clear glossy.

£1250 Plush Keyrings:
Each backer who has purchased at least 1 Crooked Creature will also receive a plush keyring version.

£1500 Additional Plushie:
Each backer who has purchased at least 1 Crooked Creature will also receive a medium sized plushie, approximately 10cm tall.
