About the show

It’s 2008. anna and claire, like all normal girls, love three things: j-14 magazine quizzes, the discography of britney spears, and mutually assured psychological destruction. when anna kidnaps her ex-boyfriend dave, the sisters’ twisted domesticity is thrown into a tailspin, as dave’s presence reveals the cracks in their relationship. a look at morbid thoughts and their gory consequences, gate shut panic is a pitch-black comedy about sisterly instinct gone terribly wrong. Gate Shut Panic runs from May 28th-30th at JACK. 

About Harlot

HARLOT is a new theatre company that strives to develop experimental, vicious, pointedly tacky work from emerging playwrights. Past productions have included DEAD BITCH (a darkly funny ode to female friendship), GATE SHUT PANIC (a Y2K horror comedy), BAD TASTE (a multimedia reality TV retrospective), and DANSE MACABRE (a playfully anachronistic period piece). In April of 2025, Harlot premiered ERASE ERASE, a spiky, queer spin on the gothic novel, at Grace Exhibition Space. Last summer, we concluded our first iteration of Plays to Watch Out For, our week-long new play development series, which featured Girls! Girls! Girls! by Anike Sonuga (dir. Damayanti Wallace), Little Hugs, Tiny Kisses by Catherine Bloom (dir. Keira Dig), and The Ballad of Joan & Jane by Sarah Groustra (dir. Amina Khelif).
