As darkness settles, a flame is lit. The rising fire passes through delicate patterns engraved in steel, casting shadows across the ground like poetry written in light.
The profound texture of metal. Lines as thin as a strand of hair. The moment the fire takes hold in the stillness of the night, this inorganic steel cylinder transforms into a masterpiece that governs the surrounding space with light and shadow. This is more than mere camping gear. It is the "future of formal beauty," born from the encounter between primitive energy—fire—and the precision processing technology that has sustained Japanese industry for decades.
TAKUMI JAPAN is a brand born from Suetake Kogyo, a company that has pursued precision sheet metal processing for approximately 70 years in the heart of Japanese manufacturing.
We present a one-of-a-kind designer fire pit that fuses 1/100mm precision metalwork with the delicate aesthetic of international Kirie artist Atsuomi Nakamura. To reconstruct the spirituality of paper-cutting within the medium of heavy metal—this challenge transcends "functional beauty," elevating the object into "kinetic art" that only breathes life when the fire is lit.
Defined by the rigorous quality standards of Japan and a spirituality that treasures emotion, we deliver this product to the global community of fire-lovers.
"1/100mm Precision Nurtures the Ideal Flame" The TAKUMI JAPAN fire pit is manufactured based on an extremely meticulous design.
Ultimate Cylindrical Beauty: A design that balances stable combustion efficiency with a beautiful silhouette from any 360-degree angle.
Precision Combustion Design: Handcrafted by skilled artisans with micron-level accuracy. The unique bending of the bottom plate makes wood stacking easy and ensures high airflow.
A Lifetime Texture: We utilize a "Kurokawa" (Black Oxide) finish without artificial painting. As it meets the fire, the iron deepens in color, growing into a personal tool that gains character with every use.
Multifunctionality: With the included iron plate, you can enjoy not only a bonfire but also BBQ and outdoor cooking.
We pursued "integrity as a tool"—reliability in harsh fields—combining portability and stable combustion with striking beauty.
"What should we do with 70 years of technology?" Our parent company, Suetake Kogyo, has walked the path of a professional in metal processing, meeting the strict demands of the industrial world. However, the origin of this brand lies in the desire not just to provide technology, but to deliver the emotion that technology can evoke to the world with our own hands.
"Our technology must have the power to move people's hearts more deeply."
Our first challenge was to maximize the beauty of metal in the harsh outdoor environment. After a process of trial and error, we arrived at this cylindrical design.
To push our technology to its absolute limit, we chose Kirie artist Atsuomi Nakamura as our partner. His patterns were the ultimate challenge for us.
Kirie—an art of "stillness"—is engraved into the robust material of metal, meeting the "motion" of fire. Through this fusion, the fire pit evolves from a "tool for burning wood" into a "work of art" that updates the Japanese sense of beauty.
"Culture is not something to be preserved, but something to be updated." We aim to create new value by fusing traditional beauty with modern technology. By engraving meticulously cut patterns into iron, we are attempting to connect the serene space of Kirie to the "modern social hub" of the campsite.
Furthermore, we are committed to sustainable craftsmanship. By using materials and structures that withstand long-term use, we reduce waste and look toward a future of recyclability. Accuracy that allows for a lifetime of attachment is the most honest form of sustainability we believe in.

Our challenge has transcended the walls of a small Japanese factory and is beginning to resonate across the globe. In 2025, Yuta Kanechika, the leader of TAKUMI JAPAN, was selected as one of the "Most Influential Tech Leaders to Watch in Metals and Mining" by the U.S. business magazine The Enterprise World.
This is more than a personal accolade. It is proof that our path—fusing 70 years of precision Technology, contemporary Art, and Japanese Tradition—is recognized as a new frontier for the future of manufacturing. Moving from a "subcontracting factory" to "creators who redefine culture." We are now ready to deliver this globally recognized passion to you, embodied in the form of this fire pit.
What we want to provide is not just a product, but an "experience" that turns the everyday into something extraordinary. A small factory in rural Japan creates world-class design and updates culture. We want you to "participate" in this process as a supporter.
We want to share the quality of artisan hands with you and grow this into a global brand from Japan. Your support will be used as capital to expand this delicate design to the world and to sustain activities that connect traditional Japanese sensibilities to the next generation.
When gazing at a fire, words are unnecessary. Within the flickering light and shadow, one finds their own story. We hope that the TAKUMI JAPAN fire pit brings a serene light to your nights and offers a moment of peace. Please join us in our challenge.
A collaboration with atsuomi nakamura, a visionary Kiri-e (Japanese paper-cutting) artist who reinterprets traditional Japanese techniques through a modern lens.
By transposing his intricate patterns from delicate paper onto heavy-duty steel, we have captured a "Formless World" that was never before possible. When the flame is lit, the "White World"—the invisible world of purity—is projected into our reality through a dance of light and shadow.

Shipping is collected through PledgeBox at the end of the project. Please be aware that your initial pledge doesn't contain the price for shipping. We have done this as the commission that Kickstarter takes is based on the total raised on the project, which would need to be factored into the shipping prices. PledgeBox has much lower fees and thus is the cheaper way to collect shipping. We ask for your understanding in regard to how we are collecting shipping fees.
Since there are more countries we can ship to rather than not, and Kickstarter doesn't have any way for us to distinguish what countries are exempt so we'd literally have to list each country we can ship to, we have the setting for worldwide shipment to be possible. However, due to global situations, there is a small list of countries that we unfortunately can't ship to at this time.
If you are living in the following countries, we apologize but we won't be able to ship to the following countries:
Afghanistan, Bermuda, Russia, Syria, Turkmenistan, Paraguay, Bolivia, Malawi, South Sudan
Founded in 1955, a precision sheet metal manufacturer in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Our mission is to convert the "Takumi" (artisan) skills cultivated in manufacturing semiconductor and automotive parts into "Biei" (beauty) that resonates with the heart.
Born in Yamaguchi. Overlapping traditional Japanese Kirie techniques with modern perspectives, he visualizes the "invisible world of innocence." Winner of the Grand Prix at the International Paper-cutting Exhibition (Triennale) in 2022, his work is highly acclaimed globally for its dialogue between material and space.
Traditional crafting culture in Japan, which has been passed on through the years, with each craftsman nurturing it and building it up, is now on the decline and is facing a tipping point. This is due to a variety of reasons such as an ageing population combined with a declining birthrate, as well as many younger people heading to Tokyo, and working there, meaning the craftsmen for various crafts have no successors. We want to preserve and pass down these important cultural works, which we feel are the pride of Japan, while at the same time, creating a new ecosystem that allows for further development both at home and abroad.
Our mission is through the power of stories we hope to protect and develop traditional Japanese crafts, and at the same time let the world know about the amazing parts of said crafts. By using the amazing stories of craftsmen and their art, we can excite people, and also create a place for people to buy their work, and help them to live a stable life with people falling in love with these artist’s works.
