The Story
Set somewhere between the grit of the 70’s and the edge of the 80’s, Honey and Ruin follows three women who were once on the path to something bigger.
They each had a voice, a future. And then each of them lost it.
Blacklisted. Burnt out. Written off.
When fate brings them together in a dive bar, something unexpected happens. They hear each other.
And for the first time in a long time, they’re not alone.
They take a chance and form a band. What starts as a spark becomes something louder, messier, and more powerful than any of them expected.
But building something new means facing everything they left behind.
This is a story about resilience, identity, and what it means to take your voice back.
About the Creators
Honey and Ruin was created by Emily Heida, Jaime Brown, and Madelyn Sneckner of I Said What I Said Productions.
The three of us met performing at the historic Butte Theater in Cripple Creek, Colorado, where we worked on multiple productions together.
When our last show came to an end in January of 2025, we weren’t ready to stop creating together.
So we didn’t.
We took everything we loved: music, storytelling, complex women, raw emotion, and built something new from the ground up.
One year later, Honey and Ruin is the result.
What Makes This Show Different
This isn’t just a story about music, though it does feature some of the greatest rock hits from the era. It’s a story about survival.
Each woman carries her own battle:
Told through powerful performances and a live band, this show leans into the raw, electric energy of rock while exploring deeply human struggles.
Why We’re Creating This
We wanted to tell a story about women who don’t usually get the spotlight.
Not at the beginning of their careers, but in the aftermath.
When things fall apart. When doors close. When the world moves on without you.
This musical is about what happens next.
Why We Need Your Help
We are producing this show independently September of 2026, and are in the final stages of contract negotiation with a venue.
Every dollar raised goes directly into bringing it to life.
Your support will help fund:
We are not making our own actors fees from this production. This is a passion project, and we are committed to paying the artists who help us bring it to life.
Our Goal
We have already secured $5,000 in initial funding. Our goal is to raise an additional $5,000 to fully realize this production.
Every contribution brings us closer to opening night.
Closing
This is a story about being silenced, and choosing to be loud anyway.
If you believe in original theater, women’s voices, and stories that don’t play it safe, we would love your support.
