Much Ado About Nothing

This summer Piedmont Shakespeare Company returns with a professional touring production of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING — twelve FREE performances across the Triad (Winston‑Salem, Greensboro, High Point, plus communities in Stokes and Alamance Counties). Every artist and technician in our 42‑person company is paid; every seat is free. Last summer our debut tour of HAMLET drew over 1,500 patrons — this year we aim to add a thousand more and bring Shakespeare’s wit, heart, and language to even more people. And we need your help to make it happen. 

We’re harnessing the talents of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Elon University to create an elegant, modern production that honors the text while making it vivid and immediate for today’s audiences. We don’t just say “Shakespeare is for everyone” — we make it so: selected performances include free childcare and an ASL‑interpreted performance, and we intentionally bring work into both urban and rural neighborhoods to remove financial, practical, and geographic barriers.

Critics have already noticed: Lynn Felder called last year’s HAMLET “heartfelt and entertaining, full of action and biting humor, truth, beauty, and the full range of human emotion.” Now we need your help to bring this season to life. We’ve raised 90% of the budget needed to pay our company, build sets, create costumes, and bring joy into six venues — but we still must close the gap.
