Fishing on the shore of Lake Garda, just beneath the cliffs of Rocca di Manerba, she stood on a cloudy morning facing the horizon — alone, as if the lake belonged to her more than the world around it.

The scene was naturally evocative, but there was no performance. No awareness of being watched. Just stillness, patience, and focus.

Then something shifted. A phone call. A few words. A visible change in her expression. When it ended, she noticed I was there. I approached her. What followed was a brief exchange, somewhere between surprise and resistance. 

Lucy, 23, had just gone through a breakup and had returned alone to a place she used to visit as a child. Her presence was unconventional — sharp features, wind-moved hair, and a direct, unguarded gaze that held attention without ever asking for it.

From there, she gradually opened up to the camera. These photographs emerged from that moment — unstaged, shaped by what had just happened. That became PHOTOSTORIES+ Nº24.
