Why I Invented The Post Host™
 

I would imagine, like my wife and I, most of us have a love-hate relationship with shepherd hooks. 

We love the beauty of hanging baskets and enjoy setting out winter hanging feeders. But, again like most of us, we hate that they have significant limitations of weight and windy weather conditions; they lean, they bend, and oftentimes fall over and damage those same beautiful baskets and expensive feeders. I knew there was a better way.

I built the Post Host™ to solve five specific problems:

• Structural Stability (The Skeleton, Not the Skin):  Our patent-pending architecture eliminates the "lean" by bypassing decorative composite caps to anchor directly into your deck’s internal wooden structural posts.  It is also designed to anchor to solid masonry surfaces such as concrete patios, brick columns or masonry pavers. By transferring the load to the home's skeleton rather than its "skin," we’ve created a rock-solid foundation that confidently handles 30lb premium displays—even in high-wind gusts. This professional-grade mounting strategy protects your expensive composite post sleeves while providing the industrial-strength stability that standard "decor" hooks simply can't match.  
• Engineered for the Gale:  The fixture is uniquely designed that during gusty conditions, the Shepherd Hook swivels 360° within the fixture, allowing the hanging load to self-align, reducing side-force impact by approximately 50%.  The swivel feature also assists in basket and feeder maintenance.
• Clear the Deck: Our 54" reach gets plants off your floor, opening up space for furniture and guests.  The overall height once mounted to the top of your deck post is as tall as currently-sold long shepherd hooks.
• Pressure-Washer Ready: Stop moving heavy planters to clean. Clean underneath with ease; our custom manufactured grommets protect your posts and internal fixture components from water.
• The Significant-Other Factor: If you have more plants than places to put them, this system creates new "real estate" without the deck clutter.
